It is super easy to get remote desktop sharing working between two Ubuntu Lucid (10.04) machines. Just follow the steps below.
1. System -> Preferences -> Remote Desktop -> Tick allow remote destop ( add a password for security reasons)
2. Open Empathy and login using your google / jabber client id
3. Double click on the user whom you want to share your desktop with
4. From the new window Contact -> Share your desktop
Enjoy remote desktop sharing.
If you want to access the other person’s desktop, ask him/her to share his/her desktop from Empathy.
Note: If the above doesn’t work, try restarting your system.
I wonder how can i configure so that after the desktop reboot i can remote access.
use vnc server to configure auto remote access
There’s an active thread on askubuntu about how to “enable” this feature: http://askubuntu.com/q/11075/289
It seems it’s not as obvious as one might think and perhaps it’s worth stating that both users need to be running empathy.
