Ubuntu Phones running the latest Ubuntu Touch OS version was launched yesterday(20th August) in India by BQ.
Two phones from the BQ stable, Aquaris E4.5 and Aquaris E5 HD, will be on sale from the end of August. Reports suggest that the phones will be sold exclusively on Snapdeal, one of India’s premier online shopping portals. Both the phones will feature dual-SIM dual standby functionality and will be available in Black and White colour variants.
Most of you who have been following Ubuntu’s phone development, by now know the specs by heart but, I will run by the specs one more time.

| Aquarius E4.5 |
The BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition features a 4.5-inch qHD (540×960 pixels) resolution display with pixel density of 240ppi. It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor (Cortex-A7) clocked at 1.3GHz, with a Mali 400 GPU for handling the graphics, coupled with 1GB of RAM.
It sports an 8-megapixel rear snapper with dual-LED flash with BSI sensor and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats. Both cameras feature interpolation or picture-stitching technology that allows users to take 13-megapixel images with the rear camera, and 8-megapixel images with the front-facing camera. The phone comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage options to add extra storage up to 32GB via microSD card. The Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition also offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G (HSPA+), GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG, and FM radio connectivity options. The phone measures 137x67x9mm, weighs 123 grams, is powered by a 2150mAh Li-Po battery.

The BQ Aquaris E5 HD, features a 5-inch HD display and will be powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor (unspecified model), clubbed with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone also sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and a BSI sensor and Largan lens, apart from a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats.
It has 16GB of inbuilt storage with microSD card expandable up to 32GB, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G (HSPA+), GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and FM radio connectivity options. The device is powered by a 2500mAh battery. The handset measures 142x71x8.6mm and weighs 134 grams.
The Ubuntu powererd handsets will come with the usual Scopes and will also included a few India-specific Scopes such as Zomato, Star Plus, Zee TV, Eros Now, NDTV and Times of India.
