Firefox 13 released with UI tweaks

Mozilla, the company behind popular open-source browser Firefox and mail client Thunderbird,  on Tuesday, released version 13 of Firefox web browser. The 32bit version of Firefox is available to download for Mac, Linux and Windows from here.
This new iteration brings a revamped interface for the start page (home screen). The new home screen gives quick access buttons for items like downloads, history, bookmarks and settings.
Another new feature included in Firefox 13 is that users are now presented with their most visited pages when a new tab is opened. This feature has been present in Opera, Google Chrome and Chromium for a long time now, and, Mozilla is playing a catch-up game here.
Firefox 13 also includes SPDY  – Google’s faster, newer, optimized version of HTTP, by default. This helps websites like YouTube, Gmail, Google+ load 50% faster than its predecessors. Google Chrome supposedly has this option enabled too!
Also, in Firefox 13, when the browser starts, restored tabs will not load their contents until you click them. This has been done to reduce browser load time. Also, smooth scrolling is now enabled by default. The Firefox developer tools received some love as well. And there is improved support for HTML5 and CSS3 tags and properties.
Firefox 13 is not yet available for 64 bit Ubuntu systems so you may have to wait a few days before it hits the official repositories. For 32-bit users, you can download Firefox 13 from the link given at the start of this article.

UPDATE: Firefox 13 is now available to download from the official Ubuntu repositories for both 32 and 64 bit systems.
