Firefox 7, the latest version of the popular open source browser was released today from the Mozilla stable for Linux, Mac and Windows.
The updated browser does not incorporate any cosmetic changes but has better memory management to boast under the hood. In fact, the memory usage is said to be about 20% lesser than its predecessors. This is going to be a welcome news for users with less RAM on their laptops and netbooks. The startup time for firefox on Linux is reported to have reduced considerably.
From this version on, Firefox will  ‘hide’ the “http://” part of a URL by default, although
this will remain on show in the case of secure sites using “https://”.
Ubuntu 11.04 or 11.10 users will get the update automatically from the repositories via Update Manager by tomorrow.
