Indicators : New & Updated

Although Unity’s release marked a new beginning for Ubuntu, users were left severly crippled by the new offering. There were less customisation options and less applications for the desktop panel. A few indicators were released but they had severe limitations and memory leaks. Slowly, but surely this seems to be changing.

A new indicator, named Indicator-Forceclose aims to mimic the functions of the panel addon for forcibly closing misbehaving applications in gnome2 classic. This used to be quite a handy app and I missed it a lot in Unity. You can download this app from launchpad.net/indicator-forceclose . The app is still under development and does not have a ppa yet. So, please use this app AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Other updates: Indicator Multiload, my-weather-indicator released update builds with fixes and new features. Indicator Multiload now has a fix for the memory leak and it also adds a new feature for realtime data from the system infos – hard disk, ram, system load & network usage. This is very useful as the tooltip information for indicators do not work at the moment.
My-weather-indicator now has moon and sun info in the weather information.
