It’s very possible that a remastered OS can actually be better than the mother OS. But it is rare that two or more remastered OSes would actually start fighting for recognition.
The mother OS, Ubuntu, is hugely popular and has millions of fans. However, remastered OSes like Linux Mint, Super OS , Ultimate Edition, and Pinguy OS have started making Linux pretty easy for novice and first time users by adding restricted drivers and software which Ubuntu cannot supply pre-installed. This makes Linux a far more easy to use and gives a true out of the box experience.
Linux Mint is a good distro, but in my opinion, Pinguy OS gives a far better experience with pre-configured compiz tweaks , global menu , conky and docky. Agreed that it needs a little more RAM but, now a days anyone using Vista or Windows 7 will have a minimum of 2G of RAM and an intel core2 duo processor.
Pinguy OS comes with a lot of pre-installed software like Linux Mint but there are a few extra software pre-installed which I like . Especially, the VirtualBox, conky ,the Digital TV setup , Pinta and the pre-installed add-ons for Firefox. The Firefox add-ons really stand out. . The only software ,I use, that is missing is the Chromium browser . I am disappointed to see it is still not being included. Apart from that I like this remastered version more than UE and SuperOS. UE adds too much software and Super OS does too little and Linux Mint feels more like Windows!!
To sum up , I like Pinguy OS more than Linux Mint!

This is a very close call for me. Mint and Pinguy OS are both my favorite distros! I’ve used Mint for almost 2 years now and it just gets better! A lot of things I like about Pinguy OS has been borrowed from Linux Mint; mintMenu, mintUpdate. But I aslo like Pinguy’s Global Menu, Docky, Conky and Gloobus Preview, plus most of the pre-installed apps.
I have Pinguy OS on our main desktop, Mint 10 on a laptop and Linux Mint Debian on another desktop computer. I love them all!!

Mostly, I like Pinguy OS, but I don’t care for Conky, and I dislike having that annoying email annoyance annoy me every time I log in. It’s annoying. After a week, I still haven’t found the way to turn that off. Stuff like that should be selectable by the user, not right there in the way.
Having a pc that is getting on for six years old, and does me really well btw, I find it unfortunate that those of us who can’t afford a brand new shiny pc are being left behind. I can’t justify spending hard earned cash on a new machine when I don’t actually need to. My machine runs Windows XP/7 really well, runs most flavours of Linux pretty good. But all these bells and whistles are ok for the kids, but of no use to someone who actually wants to get something done with their machines.
dude.. if ur pc is running windows 7, then it will definitely run Pinguy OS
SUPER OS. Others have too much rubbish: Firefox (instead of Opera), etc. I’m in business, so glamor toys upset & hinder my work. You kids are so lucky – you seem to not care about work – just FUN!
Ubuntu is so terrified of legals, litigations, etc that it offers little that we really need and want.
