Last week when I opened my Zattoo player, I got a popup saying a new version is available for download. To my surprise, this is what I saw when I went to upgrade my existing zattoo player.
Zattoo player for Linux no more? And what kind of browser based viewer are they experimenting on? Or is it one of those innumerable companies who are choosing to ignore Linux, even when the search engine giant google is on the verge of releasing google chrome for linux? Why couldnt they keep the player until they had finalized the browser version?
Leaves a lot of questions unanswered!
PS: The existing Zattoo players will still work though.
Since the end of this day, zattoo refuse to work on my Ubuntu linux PC. You have to install the new linux version, which IS NOT AVAILABLE on the Zattoo site, as you know. Crap !
2009-06-09 the player isn’t working any more.
The web based player is completely broken.
They let die a well working linux client,
for me Zattoo is died.
yes u r right. the zattoo player does not work any more… such a sad ending!
You can still use the zatto player on linux, there is a way around it.
1. When it asks you to upgrade click ok, this will take you to the download location and tell you it is no longer availible.
2.Then just click on the tab “channels” in the browser and choose which channel you want to watch. The player will then open and start streaming that channel.
3.If you find that your browser does not respond or you want to change channel just use the “Quit”
4.Repeat the process to choose another channel.
Better still, as long as you still have the old player installed, just go to the zatto website and choose which channel to watch, the zatto player will open that channel with the original player.
If you want to change channel or stop watching you will need to use the “Quit” button.
i’m sorry to say mick, ur plans do not work for ur first idea. nevertheless it was a good workaround tried. we will lose a good tv player.
Maybe you could try “tvcatchup.com” google it.
25 uk freeview channels, you just need to register to use the browser based version, works on firefox.
Thanks mick.Thats a real good substitute!
Thanks for the tvcatchup stuff and let us forget zattoo
