ATI Catalyst 10.6 released

AMD has released its monthly update for its proprietary driver for ATI graphics cards. The version now stands at 10.6.
This release has a few good additions. For ex, 2D acceleration is now enabled by default. Also it now includes RHEL 5.5 production support, official support for OpenGL 3.3 and OpenGL 4.0. There is considerable performance enhancements on the 2D acceleration front.
Graphics on my system now is snappier.

To check if 2D acceleration is enabled after installations, type the following in an open terminal

grep "ATI 2D" /var/log/Xorg.0.log

You should get an output like this

(==) fglrx(0): ATI 2D Acceleration Architecture enabled
