Hi everyone. This is a very quick screenshot post of how to install Microsoft Office 2010 in Ubuntu using PlayOnLinux. I have used the latest version of PlayOnLinux (4.0.16) running on a Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 ( updated 24th March) 64bit machine. The screenshots speak for themselves.
Please post comments if you have any further questions.
Note: We recommend you to use the alternative open source and free LibreOffice. Otherwise please always use a genuine copy of Microsoft and other licensed products.
I have a .exe installer and not a disc or iso , in the misc section there is run a exe file option , I used that and my install failed to go through.
There error was some thing related to .Net framework its trying to find in c:
I am on ubuntu 12.04 with gnome 3.4 UI
check out the screenshots. it shows exactly how to use a .exe file. If you use the installation wizard, installation will go through fine.
how about the performance?? Better than wine?? Its seems more simple.
I would say Office 2007 performs better than 2010. There is not much difference between the two unless you want the more cosmetic changes of 2010. If you have 2007, the file extension is the same.
I have tryed this on a clean 64 bit virtual box installation of ubuntu12.04. After I clicked on 'Next' on the second screen showed here above it stops doing anything. Have anyone a idea why? (Sorry about my english style of writing, i am not that good)
