The much talked about Shotwell 0.11.0 has been released. This new release brings in a slew of new features which will keep a lot of users interested. Apart from the new features a lot of bugs have been reportedly squashed in this release.Some of the new features are as follows:

- Hierarchical tags
- Support for RAW+JPEG and selectable RAW developer
- Switched from GConf to GSettings
- “Hide Photos Already Imported” is now persistent
- New Saved Search options
- Mimics no longer stored in home directory
- Added support for BMP format
It is not known how soon Shotwell will be updated in the Ubuntu repositories , however, you can get hold of it right away by opening the terminal and typing the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yorba/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install shotwell
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install shotwell
