SeaMonkey, Mozilla’s free and open source cross platform Internet suite has released its first beta for the 2.4 series for Linux, Windows and Mac. There are no major changes to the interface. The changes are all under the hood. The good news is that the new release will have a reduced memory footprint. Excerpt from the release notes:
- Drastically improved memory
use - Added a new rendering
backend to speed up Canvas operations on Windows systems - Bookmark and password changes now sync almost instantly when
using Sync - Added support for text-overflow:
ellipsis - Added support for the Web
Timing specification - Fixed several stability issues
This release is only for testers and early adopters. Downloads are available at SeaMonkey 2.4 Beta 1 download page. There are no packaged formats available at the moment. users will have to extract the tar file and use it.
Regular users please use the present stable release( 2.3.3)
